WhatsApp has introduced many new features over the past year, from hiding last seen status to connecting to other devices even when the phone is offline. And now the latest, users will immediately be given the ability to react to a message they receive.
In the WABetaInfo report it says the latest beta version of the app on iOS reveals that a new message reaction feature is coming soon. The screenshot shared shows the ‘Reaction Notifications’ option in the settings menu of WhatsApp version 22.2.72 on iOS.
Previously, the ‘Reaction’ feature was indeed being tested at the end of 2021, which allowed users to react to messages received. Previously this feature has been given to the application on Messenger and Instagram.
Launching from Gizmochina, Mark Zuckerberg has revealed his ambition to combine the messaging systems of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
Meta has successfully combined Facebook and Instagram DMs (direct messages) as both platforms support the same messaging features and can be used to send messages across platforms.
It remains to be seen if Meta will go ahead with its plans to merge the messaging service across all three platforms as the general consensus right now is that people want to separate WhatsApp from other platforms.
