Google Pay is a digital wallet and online payment system developed by Google for the convenience of making purchases. Many are asking about how to use Google Pay on Android? For those of you who want to know how, then read our discussion to the end.
How To Use Google Pay On Android
1. Setting up Google Pay for use
Required; debit/credit card or PayPal account, Google account, and supported Google Pay device (non-rooted Android phone using KitKat 4.4 and later, Wear OS watch, or desktop/laptop computer). iOS devices can also be used, although you can only use the account to pay online, not in-store.
2. Add Payment Account on Google Play
If you only plan to use Google Pay online to pay, for example; movies or the Google Play app, set up an account from the Google Play app. Just tap the menu icon (three parallel lines) in the top left corner, and select “Payment methods”. This is where you can add a PayPal account, credit card, or debit account, which Google Pay will use every time you make an app-like purchase directly through Google. Then, it is possible to add multiple accounts.
If you want to change or remove a payment method, for example, a credit card that you no longer use. Just go to the same “Payment methods” page, and tap “More payment settings” at the bottom of the page. You will see a list of available payment methods, with a “Remove” or “Edit” button at the bottom of each.
On the other hand, if you plan to use Google Pay on your phone to make in-store payments, you’ll need to use the Google Pay app.
Download the Google Pay app from the Play Store. If you have more than one Google account, a question will appear which account you want to use.
Agree to Google Pay’s terms of service and Google’s privacy policy. (click the link to find out more.) Otherwise, click “Get started”.
Add a payment method by tapping “Set it up“. And it will go to the “Choose a card” screen; if you have registered your card or PayPal account with Google (via the method above), it will be listed. Otherwise, do add your current payment method.
PayPal cannot be added to a Google Pay account via the Google Pay app. Can be added via a web page or via the Google Play app. Once you do that, your PayPal account will appear as a payment method in the Google Pay app itself.
From the main screen, you can send money using Google Pay, watch videos about the security methods involved, and view recent payment activity.
If you want, you can also manage your account on the web by going to your Google Pay account page.
When and where is Google Pay used?
In the real world, Google Pay can be used anywhere on a credit card terminal with the symbol above. From there, all you need to do is move your phone to the terminal’s point of contact, then wait for the blue tick to indicate that your Google Pay account info has been received.
If you can’t pay via iPhone, then with Google Pay?
Currently, there is only one solution for using Google Pay with iPhone, and this requires a paired, supported Wear OS watch with an NFC chip. Otherwise, it can only send and receive payments between Google Pay users.
How secure is Google Pay?
If you’re concerned that a merchant has your credit card number when you tap to pay, here’s how Google protects your info: a temporary encrypted number is shared with the merchant, not the real number.
If you lose your phone, Android Device Manager can be accessed from any computer with your Google account. From there, you can remotely lock, locate, or wipe your phone and all of its content.
