Microsoft officially launched the Windows 11 operating system (OS) on Thursday, June 24, 2021 virtually. The company founded by Bill Gates mentions a free upgrade or upgrade to Windows users.
However, the user must meet the minimum PC requirements or hardware requirements.
The conditions are that users must have a minimum PC as follows: 64-bit CPU, 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage. Windows 11 will ship via Windows Update in the same way as previously available Windows 10 updates.
Windows 11 upgrade requirements
To see if your current Windows 10 PC is eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 11, visit the Windows.com page to download the PC Health Check app.
If you buy a new PC, it will also be eligible for a free upgrade.
However, if you haven’t updated to Windows 10, don’t worry, you can still update to Windows 10 for free.
How to Upgrade Windows 11 for Free
Windows 11 must go through a series of testing processes before it is officially released to the public. This June 28, Windows 11 will be released to the Windows Insider Dev Channel community. After that, enter the Beta and Release Preview phase.
Once Windows 11 is available, you will be able to download it in the same way as the previous Windows.
Here’s how to upgrade Windows 11:
- Go to ‘Settings’
- Click ‘Update & Security’
- Select ‘Windows Update’
- If available, you will see ‘Feature update to Windows 11’
- Click ‘Download and install’
If you’d like to test Windows 11 ahead of time, the initial beta will be available next week to users in the Windows Insider Program, and the public beta will be released in July 2021.
